Shamanic Initiation

For those who feel genuinely called to walk the path of Amazonian healing, Curacaya offers the opportunity to undertake a traditional apprenticeship under the guidance of our family of healers.

This is not a course or a certification program. It is a way of life that requires patience, discipline, humility, and a sincere desire to learn. The traditions we practice have been passed down through generations, and many aspects can only be understood through direct experience, long periods of study, and a deep relationship with the medicinal plants of the Amazon.

A traditional apprenticeship may involve extended stays in the rainforest, participation in ceremonies, strict plant diets (dietas), daily work within the community, and ongoing guidance from experienced shamans. Every student’s journey is different, and there is no fixed timeline or curriculum. Progress depends on dedication, readiness, and the guidance of the teachers.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who approach this tradition with genuine respect. Whether your intention is to become a healer or simply to deepen your understanding of Amazonian spirituality, we believe that the first step is to become a humble student of nature.

Because this path requires a strong commitment from both the student and the teachers, we accept only a small number of apprentices. Before being invited into the program, we encourage prospective students to spend time with us through one or more retreats so that we can get to know each other and determine whether this path is the right fit.

Shamanic initiation is not about gaining status or special abilities. It is a lifelong process of learning, service, and personal transformation. Those who choose this path do so not because it is easy, but because they feel called to dedicate themselves to the healing traditions of the Amazon.
